Q: How did you come across the Hamilton role? What was the process like?

A: Since the show came out I’ve always been obsessed with the show. I always had a feeling that I could play the role of John Laurens/Phillip Hamilton. I had my senior showcase in the city right before graduation. A representative of the casting agency for Hamilton saw me, after that I had 7 callbacks over the course of 4 months.

Q: What do you like most about the Acting side? What do you like most about the music side?

A: I’ve always loved acting ever since I was a kid. Same with singing, i was always the kid singing songs up and down the block, all around the house. It wasn’t until middle school where I started writing poetry. Then in college I started working on my own music.

Q: When dealing with your single projects, where does your inspiration come from?

A: I would say it comes from whatever I’m feeling in the moment. Sometimes I bring up old feelings from the past, and even sometimes I make up scenarios. I just love writing.

Q: What do you like most about performing?

A: I love the feeling I get from it. It’s kind of indescribable, but there’s nothing like it. It’s therapeutic in a sense.

Q: If you could work with anybody in the industry who would you want to work with and why?

A: There’s way too many but Chris brown, H.E.R., Ty Dolla sign, Khelani, Timbaland, honestly

Q: When did your passion for music occur?

A: My family always played music in the house whether when my grandma was cooking, cleaning or someone just needed me to shut up haha. I grew up on a lot of Motown and 60’s/70’s style music. I would say I got inspired to create my own in high school but was always scared to admit it. I didn’t take it seriously till college. Yeah this has been a whole process. I’ve always been so hesitant and scared about putting out there. But I reached a point where I was like “screw it, I gotta start believing in myself and what I can do”. Honestly being part of this show has helped me a lot. I’m surrounded by so many artists that create their own work. Being in Chicago I’ve come into contact with so many musicians and aspiring artists and it’s been very inspiring.

Q: What is a long term goal for yourself?

A: Well I have a lot of long term goals. I definitely want an EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony). I want to leave my mark on the entertainment industry as a whole. And eventually own my own production company, record label, etc. and eventually give back. That’s something my mother and I have always wanted to do and intend on doing.

Q: Besides Hamilton are there any other plays that you would like to be in?

A: I would love to be in the new musical about the temptations “Ain’t Too Proud”. It looks sick!

Q: What do you like the most about A.L.I.E.N Entertainment?

A: I like that they have created something of their own from the ground up. There is nothing more important than creating something that is yours and building it into something big.

To be black in this country, you wake up to a new day but the same struggles. Sometimes it seems that they'll never end. That no-one outside of our ethnicity...

Q: What was one of your childhood dreams?

A: Honestly, I’m starting to live it!
